Easy Lunch or Snack

Monday, August 27th, 2012

Pinterest inspired lunch or snack. My son said, “This is the best lunch I have ever had”. Wrap a whole banana in a tortilla (you can use whatever- whole wheat, brown rice…) that you have smeared with peanut butter or sunflower butter or almond butter and jam or honey or honey mixed with cinnamon…

My 6-Year Old Teaches Me a Cooking Lesson

Monday, July 23rd, 2012

Simple… yet has never occurred to me. Isn’t it funny how you watch something done years ago and just do it that way indefinitely. Don’t get me wrong- many skills are learned and performed successfully for generations due to this phenomena, but… My six-year old wanted to help me scoop¬†cantaloupe¬†with a melon baller for fruit […]

Driving Cross Country with 3 Kids

Friday, August 26th, 2011

My husband and father-in-law drove our big Penski moving truck from Californai to Oklahoma a few weeks ago. I drove our mini-van with the three kids and the dog. Hmmm? Who got the better deal? It went pretty well for the most part… minus the ridiculously hot temps as we crossed the desert, and the […]

TO-DO and How to Do

Friday, April 29th, 2011

Please say I am not the only one who is willing to change and adjust and try whatever new system of organization or discipline or sleep management or whatever to figure out what works best? Over and over again until you find the way… anyone? When my oldest was a baby, it was finding the […]

Making OJ

Monday, November 22nd, 2010

We love oranges – segments, smiles, or squeezed. We are pretty into fresh squeezed OJ with lots of pulp, primarily for adding into smoothies (I add a lot of greens and it masks them perfectly). We have an ample source of oranges which is a huge blessing and want to eat the fruit as whole […]

I challenge you this Thanksgiving to spend the next couple weeks leading up to this day of thanks developing a family tradition that you can carry on over the years. Come […]

Feeling Crafty?

Monday, November 15th, 2010

I have crafty ideas, but I am not always the best at orchestrating them. I come up with great sewing projects and have to call on my mom’s seamstress skills to bring them to fruition. I am not the artsy mom that is painting and cutting and pasting with her kids. My kids color and […]

Chore Cards

Friday, October 8th, 2010

I love the simple in so many parts of my life, but in some places I haven’t found the perfect fit and am still in search of it. Chore organization for my kids is one of these areas. The ever changing ages and maturity also makes nailing down a system difficult. Things I know: I […]

Less

Wednesday, October 6th, 2010

I think many if not most of us are caught up in “more”, “new”, “better”, change, wanting to mix things up… We enroll our kids in more activities to make them more diverse. We sign-up to help at more events to be more helpful. We subscribe to more magazines to change ourselves and become more […]

Childproofing

Monday, August 30th, 2010

Childproofing had little necessity for me with my first child, a bit more with my second but not much, and I think my third could break down even the best child proofed home. I am not the super, overprotective mom. I’m okay with my kids getting bumps and bruises and dirty. I want them to […]
